Why Work With Us

IT'S THE PEOPLE

If you ask anyone at Tradelink why they love working here, the answer is always “it’s the people”. Now you may be rolling your eyes at this point but stick with us! There is really something unique about the people that choose and love Tradelink.

We aren't just any people. We come from all walks of life, and have some amazing stories. But no matter how diverse we are, there are things that connect us.

We are get-the-job-done-while-having-a-laugh people. Sometimes we are rough-around-the-edges people. But at the core we are good people, genuine people, who bend over backward to help.

In short, we are real.

IT'S THE RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships that grow, that last, that truly matter. At Tradelink our people understand that working together means partnership, and the value of keeping our promises. We also understand that legacy is about the relationships you maintain, they shape the way you’re remembered. This is why our 150-year story is still being written.

What does that look like? It looks like caring, every day. Caring about every new customer that walks in the door, about those that are almost part of the furniture, and about the community in which we put down roots.

Carly, Branch Manager of Tradelink Gladstone knows all about this. “I’m just so proud that we’re here supporting our community, and the small plumbing and other trade businesses. We really building something long lasting!”

What’s the meaning of relationships for Carly?

IT'S THE OPPORTUNITY

At Tradelink, we believe our people are capable of so much. That’s why we love to watch them grow their careers, right here, with us. Whether you want to step up, move across or stay and grow where you are, you can do it here. As a national company, we always have positions going across multiple fields. Put your hand up and make it happen!

You’ll hear so many stories about Tradelink People doing great work and progressing in the business. Read on to see how some members of our team have grown with us.

WE LOVE THE CHALLENGE

At Tradelink, we have the guts and heart to be bold. And we hope you will, too. We don’t pretend our work is easy. But as part of the team, you’ll feel every success, and we reckon the wins will keep you coming back for more!

With Tradelink, you’ll rise to the challenge while exercising your problem-solving brain. We think that’s part of what makes working with us so rewarding. Because when you challenge yourself, you grow. And we want to see growth for every one of our employees.

Hear from two of our amazing team team members about why they love the challenge at Tradelink.

Brian Fanner, our L&D Consultant. In his 15 years at Tradelink, Brian’s held almost every role in our branch network, including Driver, Branch Assistant, Assistant Manager, Branch Manager, and Inventory Controller. He’s now using his vast experience to help our people be their best as L&D Consultant. His can-do attitude is well known around the place.

I love working in our team, because everyone can bring their own strengths and their own style to what they do. It makes me happy that I’m working on something that matters to the people who are on the frontline of our business.

Anyone who meets Brian describes him as real and authentic. And fun too! He’s an avid collector of vintage tech and other curiosities. He’s quite happy with his Tradelink collection, all the blue merch from our conferences and promotions from the last 15 years!

Tradelink people are never afraid to share their real selves and appreciate each other for who they are. We work better together, support each other, and celebrate what each of us brings. So, when we say “it’s the people” we mean it!

You’re seeing your regulars almost every day, and it all starts with just having a chat with them. Over time you build something special, even friendships. We have customers that some of our people have known for 20 years or more! And every new customer is a new opportunity to start building towards that.

At Tradelink, relationships also look like teaming up, working together, and backing each other.

As one of our Project Support Officers, Mitch from Sydney is used to working with diverse teams and people from across our business. To successfully bring new projects to life he relies on the partnerships he’s built over time.

No day is ever the same at Tradelink, and at the end it’s the relationships that you’ve built with your team mates and with colleagues from other teams that get you over the line. We’re really big on mucking-in and helping each other when we need to.

Project Support Officer, Sydney

Whether we are metro or regional, coast or country, our people invest in building genuine and meaningful connections. That’s why one of our core values is “Better Together” and we really believe in it.

I jumped at the Accounts role. It's been really interesting to learn another side of the business. And that's what I really enjoy at Tradelink. All my way through, every two years, I've had an opportunity to progress into a different role and learn new things. I've seen what it's like elsewhere. I’m very happy with Tradelink.

I’ve worked in a lot of small businesses where I might be the manager or the boss but you can't go anywhere from there. Whereas at Tradelink, I’ve really had that opportunity to grow and learn new skills and take on new challenges.

You’ll find the opportunity to learn and create a really good career path with a national company. The opportunities are endless because of the different divisions within our business in sales, operations, marketing, HR, digital and more. In my time, I've seen many people progress through the business, and Tradelink’s always very keen to promote internally.

Branch Assistants, Assistant Managers and Branch Managers are often promoted through the ranks and moved to new roles within the company. It makes me proud and confident that the business wants to look after its people.

Aaron Storvik

Key Account Manager, Geelong

Aaron Storvik is one of our hugely capable Key Account Managers. Based in Geelong, he’s in charge of some of our biggest accounts across Victoria. Aaron started with us as a driver. Within 12 months, he transitioned to the warehouse and was soon promoted to Warehouse Manager. After learning all things warehouse, he graduated to Branch Assistant Manager. Then, when Tradelink launched a new store in North Geelong, we asked him to open it as Branch Manager. Since then, he’s been promoted once again into his current role.

Our team is proud of the opportunities they’ve earned with us and we think you will be, too.

Oh, you can grow at Tradelink! We've got a young man who started with us when he was 18. And he's now a Second in Charge at 21!

My husband started as a ute driver 24 years ago at Tradelink Joondalup; he was willing to do that to get an opportunity in the stores. He started in the branch as a Branch Assistant, then from there, he moved to Second in Charge to Inventory to Branch Manager, and then to Sales Area Manager and now to Area Manager!

I would say to anyone starting at Tradelink: Learn as much as you can, and ask questions because there is never a silly question - it’s better to ask a question than do something silly! Don't think you're being a hindrance asking questions because you can go up the ladder here with Tradelink. Do your work diligently and professionally and you will go places.

Monica Robinson

Senior Branch Assistant / Showroom Consultant, Perth

Monica Robinson is a Senior Branch Assistant / Showroom Consultant at our Canning Vale store in Perth. Monica started with us in an administrative role, but her curious nature and desire to learn different aspects of the business have seen her explore many opportunities at Tradelink. Because of the variety and depth of her experience with us, Monica is the first to encourage others to join Tradelink to grow their career.

My biggest challenge at Tradelink so far? Becoming the Branch Manager! I felt out of my comfort zone taking on the role. But when something doesn’t work out like I thought it would, it’s about sticking it out and always giving it my best go. I have struggled a little bit at times, but the support is there whenever I need it.

I don't like to be put out of my comfort zone, but I have been asked to a few times at Tradelink and it's been the best thing! Like they asked me to get my truck licence. This is something that really scared me. But I did it and it’s been great!

Carly Collocott

Branch Manager, Gladstone

Carly Collocott, our newly promoted Branch Manager at our Gladstone store, is well known for her energetic personality and tireless work ethic. While she’s learning on the go, she has the full support of her manager and the wider team. Carly out-cares and out-works with the best of them, and at Tradelink, she’s challenged herself to leap outside her comfort zone and grow. We always knew she could do it and we’re massively proud to see her realise that, too!

At Tradelink we know our people are bold. We know they’re driven. They square their shoulders and face challenges head-on. But the best part? They’re real people, always. And they never lose sight of that.

I was a bit nervous about taking on the Project Support Officer role originally, but I want to take a risk and improve myself wherever possible. And I had the endorsement of my future boss. That's all the reassurance I need. That gave me confidence - why would I tell myself I can’t do it if the guy running the ship thinks I can?

I'm really enjoying the challenge. I’ve no regrets at all taking on this new position and I feel like I’ll do this line of work for the rest of my career.
